Clyde Goodbread
Commissioner

Commissioner Clyde L. Goodbread passed away May 19, 2012 at this residence in Fernandina Beach. He grew up in Yulee and graduated from Yulee High School in 1961. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following basic training, he spent most of his career in Germany and served two tours of duty in Korea and one tour of duty in Vietnam. While stationed in Germany, he joined the Masonic Lodge and was the District Deputy Grand Master of the American-Canadian Grand Masonic Lodge of Germany. He met the former Jutta Brigitte Klawin and they were married on December 3, 1970. Retiring in 1982 as a U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major, they returned to Nassau County. He soon became the Chief Executive Officer for the Amelia Island Nassau County Board of Realtors. He served his community as a member of the Amelia Island Mosquito Control Board of Directors. Clyde Goodbread has been laid to rest in Hughes Cemetery with Masonic and Military honors.
